random

Some of Berens photos. I love seeing what he has taken and some of them are really quite good.
They have been using straws for craft the last few days, putting them together to create different shapes.

Our tree. Every so often I have to secretly take all the paper, artwork and other misc pieces of 'art' off it. We can't have tinsel as one of my mad cats eats the stuff but now I am discovering that he has taken a liking to the bits of string that baubles hang on.

this is the tinsel eating culprit himself.

Repose

this is the etching my wonderful friend Janine gave me for my birthday. It is one of two, she has one and I have one. The funny thing is I took a pic of it and then when I uploaded my photos today I discovered that Beren had taken one too and it was actually better than mine so this is it. I have had the frame for ages but had to go and get some matt board cut which I did yesterday. I love it as it speaks so much to me.

sputnik ball

I have made this for my new baby nephew. It is cotton for washability and stuffed with polyester fluff. The long thin bits have straws in them. I realised I should have been stuffing it as I went because it was such a long I-cord but found the straws worked well for making them pointier. It has a bell inside the ball part and I think it is pretty cute

I hear thunder.......................

WOW! what a downpour we had the other day. Unbelieveable and I don't think the kids had seen anything like it before. Flooding everywhere and my guttering couldn't cope at all, just overflowed. It truly was spectacular to see.
Afterwards we went down to Bayswater to run some errands and all the shops on Station Street had flooded dreadfully due to faulty roofs and ceilings. I am not sure how much rain we got but it sure was alot. In the second photo you can see a rubbish bin in the gutter across the street, it belonged about 8 houses up but had floated down the street LOL the water was above ankle level in our street and someone was telling me the kids were boogy boarding in their street.

Christmas swap

My swappee has received this today so I think I can safely blog it now. I doubt she looks here anyway.
I knew she was a knitter so thought I would make a needle roll for her. This will fit straight needles, DPN and circular along with space for scissors and stitch holders.

The outer is a pretty stretch fabric and the inner is a gorgeous, soft woollen fleece

This is the deco I made. It is knitted tree with hand stitched beads as the decorations.
