our home ed week

We have had a huge week here in home ed land.  On Monday we made scones and pottered around in the garden.  Several weeks ago we made some items with clay, these were ready to paint and glaze on Tuesday so we went down to the pottery shed with some other home schoolers to do this.

On wednesday we visited Hagley Farm School with our home ed group.  This was awesome!!!  We got to make butter, bread rolls, candles and to practice some spinning.  We then got to eat warm bread rolls buttered with the butter we made!!  The kids had a ball and really enjoyed spending time with each other afterwards.  Even Beren joined in on the game which was lovely to see.

We saw where the regular school children are caged play netball
Today Nienna decided she wanted to learn hieroglyphics and other things about Egypt, so she got a book from the library and googled hieroglyphics and started drawing and writing.  She drew a picture of Cleopatra from a picture on the net and she drew the Great Pyramid of Giza.  We found a cool hieroglyphics translator site too.

Beren opted for a word came on the computer this afternoon.  It is  called Bookworm Adventures and he loves it.  We bought the game but I think you can download a version for free too.

We sorted some of our postcards we have been receiving in our postcard swaps.  The kids mark the sent and received on the world map.

And tonight we went along to a home ed info night held by THEAC.  I think these are important for getting the word out that yes you can home school legally and that it is easy and fun!

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend!

I'm always amazed at how much kids really love to work with their hands. It sounds like you did a lot of fun activities this week.
