Sunday in my city

Today I took part in a digital SLR photography course. It was a get to know your camera kind of course and run through adult ed in Launceston. Basically learning about shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings. Well worth it and I look forward to the next level. I am mainly been using the auto settings on my camera and look forward to using the manual much more now.
We took lots of photos trying different settings to see what the differences were.

Some fellow students

This one was playing with exposure by changing shutter speed, the slower speed shows the movement of the branches in the wind

Looking at definition by adjusting aperture
exposure again, looking at light and dark
depth of field,
testing our steadiness on different shutter speeds without the vibrate control on.

my hands are the steadiest obviously LOL
dark rooms

I'd like a course like that!
It's not fun learning by yourself...
Have a great Sunday and a good week ahead!

I use my auto settings almost exclusively and it bugs me that I don't understand the manual. Your overall photography will probably improve exponentially once you understand the settings. Enjoy your class and keep practicing!

I'm still learning the settings on my camera. I like to pick one of them each day and spend it taking photos on that setting and learning more about it..I have soooo much to learn.
I like your photos alot..the second one is cool looking : )

It sounds like a really interesting class. I hope you continue to enjoy it. I'm starting a similar class tomorrow to learn what all the buttons are on my "point and shoot".
Have a great week. jj

I think it's awesome that you are taking that course. I would love to take it too, but first I need to get an SLR camera.

My favorite is the last picture.

Learning how to use my camera is on my to-do list. Currently I just press random buttons and see what happens. Sometimes I like the results but can never remember what the setting was! I look forward to watching you learn.
